Located about five kilometers upstream of Muhoroni town, the dam straddles the border between Kisumu and Kericho Counties along the Nyando River. The concrete and rock-fill dam will feature a storage capacity of 93.7 million cubic meters. Once completed, the dam is expected to control perennial flooding of the Nyando River and supply 72,000 cubic metres of water to the residents of Kisumu and Kericho counties.
